In one scene the main character comes home highly distressed calling out for her mother who isn’t home. She didn’t abandon her though and is just at work
TLDR: People are kind of stalked but not for creepy reasons Jennifer stalks boys because she is literally hunting them. Needy closely watches Jennifer in way that might be considered stalking. Needy finds a rock band's hotel room.
Jennifer's sacrifice scene matches this definition, but I would say this movie is very feminist in its themes. If you don't think the brutalized female getting revenge is a good enough trope, then you may have an issue with this movie.
Not quite - Adult men discuss whether one of the underage female characters is a virgin or not, and the girls take this in a sexual context, however the men are looking for a virgin for a ritual sacrifice.
during the scene with Jennifer and Chip at the pool, Jennifer is holding Chip underwater and he is only able to get occasional gasps for air. the scene only lasts for a few seconds and no one drowns. also, during that same scene, Needy pushes Jennifer under the water but she comes back up about 10 seconds later.
No. HOWEVER, for several minutes it is heavily implied (several times throughout the film both verbally and nonverbally) that Jennifer will be assaulted by the band members. Please be aware of this as some parts can be quite triggering for some viewers.
Jennifer carves a line in her wrist to show Needy that it will heal right away. She does not express pain and the wound closes. Still a visual of c*****g
There is a childhood flashback where a young girl gets a tack or something in her hand. It bleeds a little bit when it is removed, and her friend kisses it better.
Despite all the no votes, I'm pretty sure during the fire at the club/bar, some lady trips over trying to escape and her head gets stood on and squished by another trying to escape. I'll go rewatch that scene to check.
No, BUT there is a scene where Jennifer jumps out of Needy’s window and then disappears but she’s seen in the next scene as she is pretty much invincible
An underaged teenage girl is stated to be sleeping with a police cadet who is presumably a young adult. The same teenage girl makes several sexual comments during the movie, has and has sexual comments made about her. Adult men discuss whether she is a virgin or not. She uses sexually suggestive behaviour several times in the movie to lure victims (other teenagers) to secluded locations.
There is a fire in a bar near the beginning of the movie that is stated to have killed and injured several people (several people are shown on fire). Four teenage boys are killed during the movie - most of the violence is just off screen or only partially visible. One teenage girl is killed during the movie via stabbing. In the after-credits several adult men are killed, bodies shown in grainy crime scene photographs.
Not family of the main characters, however after the deaths parents are shown grieving, including a funeral where a mother gets upset at her dead child's friends for making a scene at his funeral.
at the beginning, as soon as Jennifer has eaten the thing from the fridge there's one; the other is starting at 1:25:04 ish, right after the pepperspray is used.
it's projectile both times Both times it gets on someone. in the beginning it looks like it has spikes or something in it. Needy also describes the stuff to Chip in a bit of detail. there's a shot of it on the floor, but at that point it looks more like blood or chocolate syrup or something.
no actual menstruation or use of menstrual products, but menstruation, menstrual products (tampons), and PMS are mentioned throughout as comedic side remarks. Jennifer tells Needy at one point that PMS was made up to make girls seem crazy, at another point she asks Needy for a tampon for her stab wound, stating Needy seemed "plugged up" (aka PMS-ing because Needy and Jennifer had been fighting).
Anita is locked in an institution for mentally ill criminals at the introduction and ending of the movie - while she likely has PTSD from the events of the movie, she does not seem to be otherwise mentally ill.
Jennifer in a state of shock after the fire and repeatedly Needy trying to process what’s happening. I also think the scenes where she’s psychically linked with Jennifer can be triggering if this is sensitive; she separates from the moment she’s in and appears to be staring at nothing and panicking at imagined circumstances. Not direct, but worth knowing if this is sensitive
No, BUT Jennifer does jump out of Needy’s window in one scene but comes back later as she is invincible. This scene could definitely be triggering for some.
Needy starts to have a vision/hallucination while her and Chip are having sex. She begins to breathe heavily and becomes visibly distressed. The scene is short but can be triggering.
towards the end Needy says something about being incredibly lucky straight to the camera but (other than the narrating if that counts) that’s the only time.
To be honest, this movie has ableist language peppered throughout. It contains frequent use of the r slur, calling people SPED, as well as other ableist slurs and insults. It's impossible to skip past these scenes since there are so many. Be very aware of this before you watch it if this is a trigger for you.
Maybe. Jennifer is in a sexual relationship with Chris Pratt’s character, Roman. His age is not revealed but he does appear to be much older than her as she is only 17.
"Possessed" is not the correct word as Jennifer is still in control of her actions, but she does take on attributes and behaviours of a demon following a ritual-sacrifice-gone-wrong. It is stated that a demon has taken residence in her body. Hell is mentioned several times.
We see several characters naked but not fully shown - we see Jennifer unzipping her clothes to initiate "sex" with a football player but we don't see anything; Jennifer bathes naked in a lake but her hair covers her breasts; Anita and Chip have sex and are clearly naked, however Chip is covered by blankets to around his waist and Anita's chest is blocked from the camera by Chip's shoulder.
No, but there are several animals actively watching while two characters appear to be getting intimate, and Jennifer makes a joke about mermaids having sex through their blowholes.
Needy and Chip have sex in a scene. It is broken up by short scenes of Jennifer and Colin (who are making out) and is eventually cut short when Needy has an anxiety attack over a vision/hallucination. We do see Chip putting on a condom (no nudity) under the covers and there are multiple scenes of Jennifer passionately kissing different guys (and Needy in one scene) as well as groping a man she talks about having sex with in the bar at the beginning. Jennifer also gropes Needy’s breasts in the bar towards the beginning. I don’t have exact time stamps for the sex scene but it’s easy to see coming as it happens right after Chip mentions buying condoms and Needy and him are seen making out on his bed.
