Kurt Kunkle, a rideshare driver thirsty for followers, has figured out a deadly plan to go viral. As his disturbing livestream is absurdly embraced by the social media hellscape, a comedienne emerges as the only hope to stop this rampage.
This movie contains 51 potentially triggering events.
(Spoilers) Someone is stalked to their comedy show, and there's a moment where it appears as though they were followed to their home at night but wasn't the case.
///// SPOILERS ///// The main character kills both of his parents in an attempt to go viral, however there is no evidence that he was ever violent towards them before that point.
(Spoilers) no, but 3 dogs are shown being aggressive and killing 2 characters, just an fyi if you don't want to see dogs being violent/in a violent situation.
Mentioned by the chat multiple times, but the most prominent is when Kurt makes a poll, asking if he should "fuck, marry, or kill" an unconscious woman
The first rideshare victim is a racist, homophobic, transphobic, right-wing white guy that says a lot of insensitive things (he is supposed to be completely unlikeable so it is not super offensive, mostly just annoying)
The syringes are used to inject poison into a water bottle, I felt that should be said because poisoning is a trigger of its own and I didn't
see it listed. (This was shown in the trailer)
In the livestream comments, "autistic" is seen used as an insult at least two times, and "retard" is both written and said quite a few times throughout the film. Although Spree is known to be critical of internet culture and desensitization online, this discrimination is never addressed specifically.
Not sure, but a lot of the danger takes place inside of a moving car, and there are scenes where people are pinned/trapped in place by the waist or torso (but not enclosed).
Not at all, but it may cause a similar feeling due to characters sometimes talking directly to the cameras (since most of the footage is in the context of livestreams)
Kurt's awkward demeanor and failure to pick up on social cues is made fun of by the chat, and he's called autist and a couple versions of the r slur (including by a friend)
(Spoilers) No, but I feel it should be mentioned that the first victim makes a "joke" asking if Bobby, another character, is Kurt's Gender-queer partner in a mocking tone.
In the livestream comments, "autistic" is seen used as an insult at least two times, and "retard" is both written and said quite a few times throughout the film. In written comments near the end of the film, someone calls themselves part of the "Kurt Kunkle Klan", likely deliberately using the initials of the KKK (a white supremacy group). There is a lot of homophobia in the livestream and forum comments including slurs, and "faggot" is said at least twice. A man asks the main character if he is Jewish in a way that suggests it would be a negative thing. Although Spree is known to be critical of internet culture and desensitization online, none of this discrimination is ever addressed specifically.
There's a female DJ who largely got famous from a sextape. This is talked about excessively by the chat on Kurt's livestream. Kurt's livestream also sexualizes a random woman Kurt stands behind in a line, and people online sexualize Kurt as well
///// SPOILERS ///// The killer dies, however the film ends with comments from other social media users idolizing him and condoning his actions (similar to the real life fans of killers who can be found online). So it can really be seen either way.
