A Catholic school newcomer falls in with a clique of teen witches who wield their powers against all who dare to cross them -- be they teachers, rivals or meddlesome parents.
This movie contains 60 potentially triggering events.
The main character, Sarah, is stalking by two different men. At the begging of the film, there are two scenes in which she is pursued by a ‘vagrant’, who shouts cryptic things and attempts to give her snakes. Later in the film, she is stalked by another student whom she had cast a love spell on (which she quickly comes to regret).
A man explodes in rage, jumping up from his chair, getting up in his wife's face, threatening to hit her (and seeming very capable of doing so at any moment).
Several times tru the film but Id say the Worst part is when they try to convince the protagonist that she killed several people even her mom when she was born, and other people that were actually killed by the person who is gaslighting her
A teen lives in an awful family situation but the only abusive interaction is the step dad telling her her clothes are almost see tru and trying to lift her sleep gown for a second
Towards the end of the movie, when snakes start appearing everywhere. Look away for like 20 seconds when she goes outside and snakes start coming out of flower pots. You can hear them, and it doesn’t last long. There is only one scene with spiders (tarantulas).
At the climax of the film, a magic spell makes a house appear to be completely infested with all sorts of spiders, vermin, insects, snakes, etc in order to scare someone. Soon afterwards, another character hallucinates that her body is infested with roaches.
A female character, who is agitated and delirious, and is strapped to a bed in a mental hospital room, is shown being given an injection by a hospital staff member.
A male character attempts to rape a female character by grabbing her as she runs away and holds her down on the ground, however she manages to escape.
A female character disguises herself as another female character using magic in order to trick a male character into having sex. This could qualify as a form of rape or sexual assault.
One of the main character's mother's died when she was born. Another scene insinuates that a character's father and stepmother might have died in a plane crash, but there's reason to question the story's legitimacy. In both cases nothing graphic is shown.
if jumpscares bother you, the jumps in this film likely will be an issue - but they are very light if jumpscares arent an issue for you. hope this helps
There are several scenes set in the school locker room, which has communal showers. No showering (nudity/body washing) is shown here, but there is a segment that shows a girl sitting in a shower and crying as her hair falls out, wrapped in a towel while under the spray of water.
There are some scenes where a character "wears the face" of another character, pretending to be her. And that character starts to act in violent scary ways under the influence of a spirit's power she takes into her, but it's not really a possession, she's just taking that power to a dark place within her. And a couple of the other characters seem to be under the sway of another, and one is under the power of a love spell and loses self control, but no actual typical possessions occur.
It doesn’t actually happen but at 1:30:45-1:30:53 bugs first come crawling out of Nancy’s mouth then she opens it and you can see a lot of bugs running around in her mouth(no gagging)
not those words exactly, but suicide is a theme, the main character tried to kill herself before the events of the movie, and somebody tries to coerce her into killing herself near the climax of the movie. if suicide is a sensitive subject for you, i might skip this movie or watch with somebody who can warn you
Hmm, someone tries to get out of a house but feels trapped by masses of live snakes at the exits. She does eventually get out. Towards the end another person is strapped to a bed in a mental institution, trying to break free of the constraints.
While no suicides occur during the film, one character has attempted suicide in the past (and has scars from it), while another is implied to have at least researched menthods of suicide. An attempt is made to drive a character to suicide, and to murder that character and stage the death as suicide when that fails.
theres some scenes where people are diving into a pool, i dont remember if there is ever a shot filmed from underwater but if there is its extremely brief and the character will come up for air immediately after!
no shaky cam, but a moment where the camera spins very fast and it’s very blurred and could be disorienting and have the same effect as shakey cam. this scene is also combined with bright flashing lights.
Nothing explicit happens, but two characters try to engage in sexual activity with another (see sexual assault entry above). Also a character jokes about "getting laid" and another spreads rumours that they and another character slept together. There is also some kissing.
A character who used to be more or less normal ends up in a mental institution, strapped to a bed. The protagonist has become somewhat callous and vindictive (although for good reason). Two people have died in the course of the movie. So even though the antagonists get their comeuppance in various ways, we aren't exactly left feeling happy - or at least I wasn't.
The plane crash ends up being fake and it is only shown tru a very old TV and you can barely identify anything but they talk about it, about the deaths and all. Later you realize it didnt happen
The second time the snake-wielding stranger approaches Sarah, he is pursuing her as the main characters are walking along a busy sidewalk in a destitute urban area at night. He gives chase but, as Sarah run across the street to escape, he stops in the middle of the road. He is struck by a car; there is no gore but it is still graphic.
Also important to note: In the following scene, the main characters excitedly come to the conclusion that they made it happen with their combined magic and seem happy about this; they tell Sarah it had to be done, to protect her. Given that magic is very real in this film, by the characters claiming responsibility, this is implied as a direct act of violence and could be inferred as (at least) an attempt to cause death.
