Elliot, a brilliant but highly unstable young cyber-security engineer and vigilante hacker, becomes a key figure in a complex game of global dominance when he and his shadowy allies try to take down the corrupt corporation he works for.
This tv show contains 105 potentially triggering events.
Elliot, the main character, uses hacking throughout the show to find information about the people in his life in order to further understand them, this is frequently reoccurring.
if you're sensitive to drug use related triggers, I'd be very careful watching this show. it's a large central part of the main character and others and drugs are featured in I believe every episode I've seen so far, and I'm up to s2e3
(Minor spoiler) S1E1, about 24 mins in: A man yells and lifts a small dog in the air by his leash because the dog won’t pee, dog is clearly distressed. The interaction is interrupted by Elliot who notices this. Later in the episode, Elliot threatens to blackmail the man because he is cheating on his wife with Elliots psychiatrist, who he is fond of. He then asks for his dog, Flipper, who becomes a series regular.
We see an animal get mildly mistreated, he gets his leash yanked on and whimpers, but it is rectified by a Good Guy taking him out of the mistreaters care
a character is in the hospital and a fly is buzzing around the room and lands on their finger. I don't know about the rest of the show as I just started watching but ill try to comment again if there are more
This is an ongoing theme throughout the show, but specific episode warnings are:
S1E1 child pornography is mentioned but not shown;
S4E1 a character is revealed to have assaulted a minor (this is shown in a video that other characters are watching);
S4E7 the episode revolves around a character realising they were sexually abused as a child, but none of this is shown on screen
A character is attacked by a group of men and beaten up. This isn't shown to graphic extent, but we see quick flashes of the scene and then the character's injuries afterwards.
towards the end of the episode, someone is strangled to death on screen by an antagonist, you'll know it's coming when two characters meet on a rooftop
psychological torture that i do remember, multiple different episodes and situations. and arguably other kinds too. there may or may not be actual instances of other types. honestly if there are i likely dissociated and wouldnt be sure anyway, since i have a dissociative disorder from extensive trauma as a child. theres BDSM themes and such & being a survivor of childhood s**ual assault with those themes i am never sure when thats consensual and when it isnt. In short, yes. I cant say for sure how much, when, what exact types besides psychological at least twice. im sorry thats all i got
Both of the main siblings parents die. Specifically their father's off screen death is often brought up as a large plot point often. Along with that Angela's mother's death is often brought up, and the life of Dom's entire (and by extension parents) is threatened in season 4
there is a scene about midway through s1e7 where two characters are in a disagreement and one puts a gun to the other's head and suddenly shouts "bang!" to scare them and make them think they've been killed, which I would put in the jumpscare category due to the volume and suddenness. you'll know it's coming when one character begins talking about how crazy they are and knocks stuff off of a table
not clowns necessarily, but a character does wear an exaggerated mask, which could be similar to triggers surrounding clowns. the mask looks somewhat like a more comedic "V for Vendetta" mask, and appears more than once during videos the characters watch on screen.
Cops are often ridiculed throughout the show, shown to be corrupt. Specifically Mr. Robot (an anarchist) is seen most often talking on the subject of cops.
Whiterose a transwoman is the main villain. Thankfully though she isn't portrayed as predatory AT ALL and they show her struggles which contributed to her descent to darkness
This is complex as the Trans Character lives a double life and exists, willingly, as her male persona, who she acted as before transitioning. she uses her own deadname many times and self-applies it.
Tyrell, a married man, cheats on his wife with a man (it is important to note that this is both a part of a plan and not out of desire to cheat, as well as seemingly not really a problem with his wife), and attempt multiple times to seduce the wife of his enemy (same things could be said once again). Along with that, he shows (what most interpret as) heavy romantic interest in the main character to the point of exclaiming his love for him on multiple occasions. I would way this is up in the air
-One you won't want to see in S1 EP 4 at 24 ish minutes, obvious when it's coming as he enters a drug house.
-Another is at S2 EP 5 around 19 mins in, happens quickly, safe to look again at 19:26 for sure.
-S2 EP 6 at 23:30 for a few minutes
A character references a past suicide attempt and shows scars on their wrists, you'll know it's coming when two characters are sitting together in an apartment while a third character is in the bath.
Halfway through EP2.0 – loudly eating an apple (there is buildup to it).
S4 E10, 6:00 after someone returns to an apartment, there are exaggerated sounds of swallowing, scraping kitchen equipment, etc.
The episode centres around a character wanting to carry out a plan to kill himself and he says multiple times that he wants to die, but the episode has a hopeful tone and the character doesn't end up going through with it.
A baby is heard crying off-screen towards the end of the episode. you'll know it's coming after a character gets shot in a bar.
the scene it cuts to after the shooting features the crying baby.
No, but a pregnant person induces her own labor early with a sharp object. The action happens off screen, but there is a close-up shot of the instrument on the counter with a few drops of blood. The baby is born in a hospital and is fine.
There is a mysterious character that no one has met before who I believe is a trans woman (but could be wrong) who was referred to as "he" before she appeared on screen for the first time, but when the main character meets her, he refers to her with she/her pronouns
there is a group of characters who all share the same skillset and band together to accomplish something. I don't know if other characters die from that group yet later on in the show, but the only Black character in that group dies and no one else from the group has died before him
I would say season 1 has the most graphic sex scenes, it ends up calming down a bit into season 2, only having 2 brief ones and 1 pretty bad one for the rest of the show. Most are really short and bearable, but do NOT watch this show with children.
Yes. The biggest moments I can remember is a therapy scene in the first or second episode of s1 where a character goes on a rant about the human condition and another scene in s2e3 in which a character goes on a lengthy rant about religion.
It's up to who's watching, but i did personally cry for the first time at a show because of the ending, i would say it depends on how you see it. More melancholic than anything
