James is 17 and is pretty sure he is a psychopath. Alyssa, also 17, is the cool and moody new girl at school. The pair make a connection and she persuades him to embark on a darkly comedic road trip in search of her real father.
This tv show contains 79 potentially triggering events.
Bonnie was abused as a child. She repeatedly states that "punishment happens because of love" and commits a multitude of assaults ranging from cutting off someone's hair to murder.
Alyssa is restrained while Clive Koch attempts to sexually assault or rape her. The woman at the gas station was forced into the toilets by the main characters. People were also restrained by police.
One of the main plot points in season 1 is the main characters stab a man and he bleeds to death. This happens at the end of episode 3 when the man forces himself onto the female main character. The stabbing is very graphic and they show almost everything.
I am very sensitive to jumps and the sudden flashes to James’s fantasies about killing Alyssa (quite graphic, lots of blood) startle me quite a lot but after a while you can predict when they’re about to happen.
This is a pretty safe show for vomit. There are only two times it happens. The first time it happens is in S1:E4 right before the 1-minute mark after the screen says, “six hours earlier.” The second time it happens is in S2:E5, around 5 minutes in.
One of the main characters, James, is pretty autistic coded and his dad says things. like he’s “weird” and “quiet”. He isn’t autistic though he’s just kinda quiet because he’s traumatized
James thinks he’s a psychopath and does stereotypical psychopath things like killing animals. Bonnie also clearly has PTSD and has been brainwashed, and although she never goes through with her plan, she plans to kill two people
Someone completes, someone else attempts, and there's a scene where a character is searching for another character and becomes frantic believing they may have completed.
It's a really chaotic and sad show but at the end they decide to go to therapy and it's happy
