In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.
This movie contains 73 potentially triggering events.
Heads up… the times in the other comments didn’t match the version I rented. Basically, when they show a bunch of (live) cows and then the car pulls up to where traffic is backed up, just skip 2 minutes and you’ll be completely safe. Will you miss something? Not sure, but you won’t see the animal.
I will just add that the crazy lady may have abused the corpse sexually It is not shown but it’s implied, the said body being naked and having blood around his sex while he had no blood in this particular area when he died
An old woman assaults and harasses multiple characters. Early on, she touches a young woman's bare side. Later, she touches a man and pressures him to have sex with her. When he refuses, she violently stabs him in a sexualized way. Later, she lies down in bed with a sleeping woman and touches her. The woman wakes up and is extremely upset.
A character has bones in their hand/fingers broken on-screen. It's quite gory. Another character breaks a hip when they fall (not explicit but the character says they broke a hip). Yet another character has their skull crushed.
Right after a man peeks through holes in the wall and there are close ups of his eyes, he is stabbed with a pitchfork. It's shown again after a couple other shots
there is gore on many instances, the most excessive one is after a character has been stabbed (not to spoil, it’s the first character that dies in the movie) the murderer continues to stab them for at least 30 seconds even tho the victim is dead. there is also a cow corpse that’s not important to the story at the beginning, after they have been at the shop and before they arrive at the house
Old woman is played by a young actress (Mia Goth) in heavy prosthetics. She is not exactly disabled, but limps a little and has restricted mobility as an 80 year old woman would
There are plenty. Of the ones I remember, there is a jumpscare occurs when a character is running away from a house and is suddenly stopped by another character asking where they went—loud sound cue occurs. Another happens when one character goes to turn on a cellar light, but before they can fully pull the string down, it cuts back to another character getting stabbed with a pitchfork—another loud sound cue occurs. A character turns around and is spooked by another character standing still—another loud sound cue occurs. A character goes to leave a bedroom and is shocked to see another character, nude, walking through the house—another sound cue occurs. A character tries to unlock a door from the inside of a room and another character suddenly swings at their exposed fingers with the stock of a shotgun—another sound cue occurs.
A man showers after watching his girlfriend perform in the movie, and a woman showers after being touched by an old woman in her sleep. Both characters are distressed and trying to wash grossness off themselves, but neither are hurt while in the shower, despite the many Psycho references throughout
The elderly woman at the property is heavily fixated on and profoundly depressed by own her physical appearance as it relates to her age. There are several long scenes of her looking at herself in the mirror that may hit home for people with BD.
a character is locked in the basement and she bangs on a door repeatedly which might be triggering? but there are no specifically claustrophobic scenes
At the end of the film, a character claims "it must be a horror movie" when referring to recovered footage. This is clearly hinting at the film's events as well.
Young characters seem to think the old couple are too old and senile to take care of themselves (though they are definitely underestimating the old couple).
No characters are explicitly LGBT. The main villain is a woman who seems attracted to a younger woman, but in the end it seems more like she is jealous of the younger woman's youth than sexually attracted to her
There’s some comments about porn being the future and everyone loving sex, as well as displeasure when a partner physically cannot have sex, and use of the word prude. But no characters are ace, explicitly or coded. There is no discussion of asexuality whatsoever.
There seems to be an age gap between the film director/producer character (actor is in his 40s) and his fiancee (actress is in her 20s) but the film doesn't comment on it. An old woman tries to flirt with a 23-year-old man. Same old woman is obsessed with a young woman in her 20s and touches the young woman's body a few times. A young adult man's body is discovered and may be insinuated to have been sexually abused by an older character.
The plot involves the lead characters filming a low-budget porn movie in the 70s, so yes. However, none of the actors or actresses are pressured or unhappy about starring in a porn movie, in fact they look like they’re having a pretty fun time.
The old man in the movie frequently mentions not being able to do things he wants because of how it might affect his heart. There's no specification of illness, it's really just hinted at and probably due to old age. Up for interpretation.
