Twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed, Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the United States and depend on each other for survival.

(TW: detailed description of attempted rape) The scene shows the rapist on top of his underage victim, pinning her down. They are both fully clothed. He says something along the lines of “the fighting is my favorite part” and he goes to remove his belt. She is visibly terrified when she realizes his intent but she manages to grab a weapon and kill him before he gets any further than that. Traumatized, she repeatedly stabs him after he has died.

Joel begins to show signs of having anxiety attacks. It occurs twice throughout the episode and he talks about the symptoms he experiences after the second one.
Episode 8, when standing in front of the Victoria's Secret window, Riley makes a joke about trying to imagine Ellie in the skimpy underwear on the mannequin. This makes Ellie visually uncomfortable and she lingers at the window, presumably to imagine herself "sexy." Side note that Ellie is 14 years old, however it's something that every teenager does.
