abuse might be a strong word, but the dad roughs up the daughter towards the end while he is possessed and pulls her hair which was the trigger for me.
No spoilers: the film implies a character is addicted to the qualities of the pool, with an analogy to withdrawal when kept/driven away from it/the home
Can we just talk about what absolutely LAZY WRITING it is for a horror movie to only include animal for the sole purpose of killing it to further a flimsy plot? Its a stupid tired old unoriginal trope that every crappy horror director uses. Children never die in horror movies but animals always die. As soon as I saw the cat Cider in this film I said “that cat’s gonna eat shit”. I was right. ALWAYS
Later in the movie the boy is looking for the lost cat and you can hear it mewing… it sounds sad. They really don’t let you forget the cat in this movie
You don’t see it and you don’t see the body. You just see a collar floating in the pool. It’s towards the beginning. If you want to skip, turn away when you see the cat on the diving board.
heyy people, i haven’t got time stamps but can try explain a bit better
1. when the family get in the car to leave the house, the dad will start coughing, he kinda spits out black stuff, it’s only a small amount, for me personally it wasn’t too triggering for me as you can tell it’s not sick
2. when the mum goes to speak to the mum of the little girl who died in the pool at the beginning, she will also start coughing, the noises she makes are quite triggering like she might throw up
3. the dad is coughing in the shower but again not triggering for me
4. towards the end the daughter smacks the dad with the baseball bat, a little moment after he will cough up more black stuff, i splatters on the ground which is a little triggering for me, but as i know it wasn’t sick i could just about cope
5. when the dad goes into the waters the little boy will throw up black stuff. this also splatters on the ground which I didn’t really like watching.
Hope this helps guys xxx
i would say no but the father does become possessed where he does lose himself completely for a couple scenes towards the end but then the possession stops.
Slightly- people will sometimes see a family member or loved one out of the corner of their eye, then realize nobody is there when they actually come out of the water to look.
