This is the film that started it all in terms of audience participation, and it depends whether you enjoy this or not or if there are sensory triggers in these audiences that may bother you. If you're watching at home, of course you don't have to do any of the following. Screenings of this film in cinemas feature audience participation that may include, in no particular order:

Throwing rice and toilet paper, responding to lines that are spoken with (mainly) pre-planned sentences as if characters can hear you...

...throwing confetti, shining phone torches like candles (it used to be candles, but cinemas declared it too much of a fire danger), and in some screenings water pistols. There are more that I've probably forgotten, but the main things are things being thrown, loudly shouting jokes and responses, and artificial light supplied by the viewer.

The premise of the series is that we watch music videos of the prisoners' stories and vote on whether they are 'forgiven' or 'unforgiven,' which heavily influences the plot.

Not in the show proper, but the lead-up to Episode 6 features a poll on the Wacky Watch website where we can vote for our favorite character, complete with videos where each character explains why they should win. As time goes on Caine, ranked right at the bottom, begins to sabotage the poll in vaguely DDLC-esque ways, such as spamming pop-ups asking if we're sure about our vote, changing all vote buttons to his, and flashing subliminals in official social media posts.

Assuming this doesn't count for video games, but the player makes decisions for the character.

Depending on the show, King George's "Everybody!" during You'll Be Back may be a genuine call for everyone to join in the scatting, sing-along style.

Since it was live streamed, chat and subscriber alerts are visible onscreen in earlier episodes, including chat members being able to donate to pick the music played in the background in the first episode. Chat isn't actively acknowledged in any way during the edited version of the show and is hidden partway through due to transphobic comments from viewers.

Characters cut through the audience while "taking a shortcut" to buy time for a scene change, but do not interact with the audience directly. A character becomes aware of the audience during the final bows and begs the people in the front rows for help. (If you are going to a live production rather than watching on YouTube, both these things are likely dependent on the size of the venue and the director.)

It is a video game. However, it isn't like most visual novels where there are multiple endings. Mirror Dungeon events tend to have different outcomes based on your choices, but those are all short-term effects.

No breaking the fourth wall but the game does require constant input from the player, including point and click mechanics and dialogue choices.

The main character breaks the fourth wall and refers to the viewer as "you" throughout the series. There are some scenes in which he "asks" the viewer if they saw something or if they know something he doesn't, etc.

The theatrical and Criterion Collection editions contain an Odorama card where viewers are prompted to smell a number on it to be subjected to rather gross, horrific smells. Although the instructions in the film are still left in all versions which can make the experience a bit confusing if you don’t have the card
