A minor plot beat is that Beverly has gotten her first period. Due to the abuse by her father, she is very stressed about him finding out (which he does). At another point she is overwhelmed by the overabundance of choices of sanitary products in a store. Pennywise causes her entire bathroom to be flooded with blood in a scene that could be interpreted as an allegory for her fear of menstruation. All the boys in the group make menstruation feel safer and more normal for her, however; they steal sanitary products for her, and they also all team up to calmly help her clean up the aftermath of the aforementioned bathroom scene.
