Claudia traps a finch in an hour glass and proceeds to let the sand pour down on the bird. This is a ritual in which the bird symbolizes Snow White and her being buried alive. At the same time, there is a cave in down in the mines while Snow White is down there, where one of the 7 men dies. It is implied that the bird in the hourglass is also buried alive under the sand.
