When spaceships accelerate, the crews stay safe by strapping into their seats, putting in mouthguards, and then allowing a mechanism to use four short needles to inject a drug called "the juice" into their necks. The first time this process is shown, it goes well. The second time, a character struggles and tears themself free from the needles. No close ups, but even someone not bothered by needles would watch that and go "ow!"
