Not physically abusive, that I recall. But a lot of lying and grifting from Alice's mom. Extreme homophobia and rejection from Dana's parents. Bette's father refuses to accept her sexuality and the baby she and her partner conceived with donor sperm. Jenny's stepfather seems to be very emotionally abusive to both her and her mother. Shane's father treats her and all women very poorly. Shane's stepmother abandons her son on a doorstep when she discovers her husband is cheating. There are a lot of bad parents portrayed in this show.

Characters have their entire lives and sexual encounters in their house filmed without their consent. It is the season with the film-maker roommate and is a plot point throughout that particular season.

In the first episode of the second season, Tim gets naked, climbs in bed with Jenny, and proceeds to take her clothes off and have sex with her, despite her saying no at least a dozen times. It's very uncomfortable to watch.
