Sheep gets shot in the head. Also, a cat almost gets shot (pretty distrubing scnene IMO).

Two sheep are shot in the head, one off screen and one semi-on screen. A cat comes close to being shot but is spared at the last second.

No dogs die, but two sheep are shot in the head and they threaten to shoot a cat.

There are two brief slaughterhouse scenes involving sheep--not bloody, but disturbing. There's also a scene in which a character wants to use a cat for target practice, but someone stops him.
This is one of the rare times I recommend seeing the film anyway if you're a horror fan. The scenes aren't gratuitous; they tell us everything we need to know about the characters. I still deplore animal violence, but if you look away when you see sheep, you'll be fine with a rich story that manages to appropriately use unpleasant scenes to magnify tragedy in terms of the violence experienced by the human characters -- and the relentless sadness of their everyday lives.
