The Darkness, while being mostly manifested as a form of possession, projects through the ghost of Barbara Jagger. Another ghostly entity, operating against "The Dark", is a former poet gone by the name of Thomas Zane who manifests as a ball of light during the Tutorial Chapter, and later on in the shape of a humanoid heavy diving suit during the late game.
