There is multiple animals killed in a war and often they are treated poorly by their owners or killed in a drawn out way. Pretty sure most of it is CGI, but it’s sad to watch.

Sadly there are a lot of horses shown being killed in the battle. Even a very specific horse ridden by one of the more prominent characters gets brutally killed in battle.
