About 9minutes in the family's Golden Retriever meets the Monster, and they fight. After the parents go looking for it, about 12minutes in, they find it's mutilated body on the beach(I suggest not watching that part). The next scene is a bunch of guys walking along a dock drinking beer, when they come across a number of mutilated dogs all over the dock(again, I'd skip this part too). The only dog left alive is ''the Indian's'' as the characters say (they are racist and do not like the local Native Americans), so they make a plan to kill the husky. You don't see the killing, but at about 20minutes in Jonny Eagle comes into a local dance hall where all the people are gathered, carrying his dead dog and accuses the racists of their actions. The dead dog remains on the screen until after Jonny is dragged out by one of the racists (about 1-2minutes).
The group of racist fishermen literally plan to lynch the Indigenous characters specifically at 32:34 min. I would classify that as hate speech.
“We gotta take care of Johnny and *those people*”
“Those people” referring to the other Indigenous people from the reservation.
Virtually the second scene of the movie, a kid falls into the water and is killed by one of the monsters as his dad attempts to jump in and save him, but is held back by the kids older brother still on board.
