In a post-apocalyptic future after "The Quiet Rapture" event, a convict explores a blood ocean on a desolate moon using a submarine called the "Iron Lung" to search for missing stars/planets.
Going off of definitions, gaslighting implies lying to someone in an attempt to make them question their sanity, memory, or reasoning. What happens in the movie is plain old lying or omitting information.
No, but there is a sequence towards the end where Simon is in a strange state of mind. He's not on drugs, but it kind of simulates the look/feeling of being on drugs + hallucinating.
The main character does not get held underwater (the water being the "water" of the blood ocean) by a living thing, but he does struggle to escape a flooding crawl space during the climax.
The main character falls and lands on his face towards the beginning of the film, and there is blood in his mouth afterwards. Can be seen as tooth damage.
During a flashback scene, someone is consumed in flames and their skeleton is briefly shown. Look away when the main character experiences a flashback of his team on Filament Station.
It isn't fully shown, but towards the end you can see the main creature holding a submarine in it's mouth, which has a (not visible, but audible through radio) person inside, and off camera the creature crushes the submarine with the person inside
Not literally but he is trapped in a submarine and there are multiple very claustrophobic moments in an area beneath the main room of the submarine. For those that struggle with the claustrophobia of being buried alive, this might check the same boxes.
At one point it’s shown that his arms and hands are being boiled/infected/burned by the liquid he touches. He also rips his hand off of a pipe and it seems to hurt him when he does.
A repeated refrain in the movie is, "It's bigger than me." Both the main character and one of his contacts (through the radio) sacrifice themselves at the end of the movie for the good of humanity.
With my viewing yesterday as someone easily startled by loud noises, I didn't got scared at all personally. There aren't any intentional jumpscares. But some noises might still startle.
It's not entirely clear if it's a ghost or just a hallucination, but it is definitely a dead person who appears and disappears, leading to a discovery of a previous person having been on, and died on, the same vessel as the main character.
my timestamps are not exact i apologize: 21 minutes: audio only. the after the welder looks through the window 1 hr 13: audio only. during the audio recording i'm not sure if it's gagging but it kind of sounds like it towards the middle and end of the recording 1 hr 27: audio and visual 1 hr 43: coughs up blood but safe 1 hr 54: audio (not really visual) when convict exits the crawlspace he makes triggering sounds
as a severe emetophobe, all scenes were tolerable aside from 1 hr 27 and 1 hr 54.
The entire premise is that a convict is sent down in a submersible as a way to keep him out of a jail cell. He is welded into the sub and can not leave
Constantly, yes. I was able to tolerate it until the last 15-20 mins though. Lots of wet squelchy sounds, water sounds, body horror sounds, puking, etc..
If you’re claustrophobic I’d skip this one. The entire film takes place in a small submersible. At two different points the main character also descends into a crawl space that’s just barely wide enough for him to fit through
Expletives and said and written down/typed out relatively frequently. In the credits, one of the photos of the people who helped with the film is holding up 2 middle fingers.
Spoiler? - - - After the main character flashes his X-ray camera directly at people one definitely develops terminal cancer, and others get radiation damage, implied tumors/ cancer
It is not a traditional nuclear bomb, but it is slightly implied that the explosion at the end is nuclear. In an early scene, the main character is reading a manual about the ship, where it says using the X-ray camera compounds the radiation effect. I wasn't 100% clear if this was meant to be set up for the later explosion or not, but it could be.
