Movie is safe.
Around 14min Giuseppe walks down into the subway with the boombox and starts to unzip his pants like he’s going to pee, and he coughs and gags a little from the smell of the subway, but doesn’t get sick. (It’s not terrible)

One of the larger characters of the story is abused physically at home by his father, you see the after math of a beating in one scene and it is also spoken about in the film.

Not in the traditional sense. The boy who gets hit by the train, does go onto the tracks willingly, and then refuses to get off them until he realizes a train is actually coming toward him. He gets caught on the tracks and can't get off in time.
He is acting in a manner that is threatening suicide, but it wasn't his intention.

There is sexual content depicted between the teenage characters in the film. Most of it is rather mild, but there is a scene that is rather graphic about the content.

One of the larger characters in the story dies after being hit by a subway train. Another child dies when one of the larger characters in the story hits him in the head with a baseball bat. Another is shot and killed. These are all older teenage boys, and you do not see any gore in the scenes.

Not a sad ending per say. It has a quiet ending where you don't really feel like much of anything has changed or come from telling the story except the story is out in the world.

You see the blood on the clothes, on the faces or body parts, you see bruises and cuts. There really isn't gore though, and anything really physically violent you either see just the very beginning or the aftermath, but not the gore of it.

One of the larger characters in the show is said to be 'odd' (I'm picking the nicest thing said about him), but looking at the character it is a possibility that they would have been on the autism spectrum. There is never mention of it and the character is just teased for being different.

Yes, there is a character who is said to be homosexual, though I don't think that character ever confirms it, and there are slurs pointed at that character. Homophobic slurs are also used as insults in the film as well.

For the most part these are minor and not focused on in the story, but yes, throughout the entire film there are characters gaslighting other characters and being victim to gaslighting.

This is a film with a lot of street violence, that takes place in 1986, in a not great neighborhood of NYC. It focuses on many of the characters being teenagers trying to figure their crazy environments out. With that being said, most of the hate speech, teasing, and verbal violence comes from young people who probably just feel the need to be tough in a really messy world. So while there is a lot of cursing, racial/ gender/ sexuality insensitivity, and verbal violence, you do get the sense that much of the time its meant to be grandiose to show the immaturity of the main characters.

There is talk of the father having "attacks", which would lead you to believe at first that there might be anxiety disorders, but it turns out to be seizures.

In a way. There is a section at the very beginning where the main character explains another character to be called sister, by their sibling, even though the character is male. It is used as a joke.
