I wouldnt recomend this show to anyone with triggers around child abuse as this is basically what the whole show is about. But people have the right to autonomy so I'll write down as many as I find anyway:
Episode 1: A girl is kidnapped by what looks like some sort of cult and- just like a usual child trafficking tactic- they use other kids to lure kids into their white van.
Tamsin bleaches Saras hair and you can hear her scream and say it hurts and Tamsin theatens her.
Sara wets the bed and the older girl quickly says to swap so that shell get in trouble instead of her. Tamsin does a bed check and it's implied that Tamsin really hurt her when they both walk out as the kids are doing exercise.
Roughly 20 mins in, the mum (Freya) goes to open the door that the kid locked itself in. They bust it open at the same time and hurt the kids eye. The mum comforts him but at the same time goes "if you'd have listened this wouldn't have happened, would it?"
Roughly 30 minutes in, whenever Sara throws a rock at the speaker, Tamsin drags her to a room and attempts to beat her with a b*lt but the older sister (Amy) walks in. Then when Amy starts talking to Sara, Sara argues with her and Amy slaps her across the face and walks out. Then a few seconds later we see Tamlin panicking and returning to the room to check Sara is still there, then she locks Sara in.
A few minutes later, when the bell is ringing for meal time, a girl is screamed at for not having her elbows on/off the table. It's quite sudden so I'd be careful.
In the same dinner scene. The oldest boy complains that its not fair the older sister gets more and is slapped on the head by the other brunette woman. I would honestly just skip the whole dinner scene if child abuse like this triggers you.
Soon after, at 38 minutes in, just after Tamlin says "it's seems like Amy has failed you", Amy puts her hands on the desk and is physically abused. Corporal punishment being the specific kind. It then switches to the woman on the phone with them but she's listening to this happen to Amy over the phone. Then it VERY SUDDENLY skips to Amy receiving said punishment in a flash. If this triggers you it's only safe to look when we see Freya in bed.
Episode 2: Within the first 3 mins, all the kids are out looking for Asha/Sara the old guy says "if you've not found her it's an hour in the hole"
When the teacher asks for a word with Freya they discuss her sons black eyes (even though it was an accident)
Roughly 10 mins in when the children are told to sit for dinner, one of the girls is given a bit of jelly and Amy is given nothing.
When Amy walks in to speak with "Mummy" she is shamed and when walking out Mummy tells her to pull down her hem because she looks like a "whore"
There's some talk about punishment when the kids are all being displayed.
Then Sara/Asha is put inside "the hole" by Tamlin.
At roughly 35 mins in, Amy is given drugs "to be cleansed"
Episode 3: SPOILER : At the very beginning, Freya's baby is crying non stop and Freya tries to comfort it before eventually screaming in frustration. She can't handle it so gets out the car and goes on a walk. Then it's implied that because she left it the baby died or got seriously injured.
Episode 4: SPOILER: At the beginning of episode 4, the police and nurses take document of all the children's brusies/marks which there are a lot of.
When Freyas son is playing with the ball she yells at him to go outside then yells at him again because he accidentally breaks a glass. Anything to do with her son tbh, isn't great and she's a pretty bad parent.
Episode 6: Roughly 30 minutes in, adult Freya has a dream where she's calling out to Asha then very suddenly it cuts back to receiving corporal punishment and then she wakes up.
Throughout the last few epsidoes there is talk about what adrienne did to the children.
Rough 30 mins into the final episode, Amy is forced to give Asha a "baptism" with snakes.
Described in Ep 7: Discussion at the wedding of one of the siblings having hung himself, and upsetting description of how he was found. To skip, fast forward a few minutes from when the brother starts talking about how he was “the last one to see him”.
Onscreen in Ep 8: Henric commits suicide at the end by hanging himself from a tree. You do not see the act, just the end scene from afar. To skip, fast forward a few minutes from when you see him walk up to the tree they took Sara from.
Lots. The whole intro is depiction of the characters’ houses underwater. Regular flashbacks to Amy underwater. She also swims a lot, and plays a game with her son where he times how long she can hold her breath under the deck in the middle of a lake.
Not so much fat jokes but definitely fat shaming against people who are straight sized. In episode 2 Tamsin says that one of the girls is getting fat and then gives her a small piece of what looks like jelly for dinner.
