Daddy issues play a major theme. Alan has a major argument with his dad before being sucked into Jumanji. While his father isn't necessarily 'abusive,' he is portrayed as someone cold and formal. When Alan gets out of the game he seeks out his dad, only to discover that he has passed away during the time skip, making reconciliation impossible. It's also mentioned Mr. Parrish bankrupted himself while desperately trying to find Alan. When the game summons Van Pelt, a big game hunter, as an antagonist for Alan, he is played by the same actor who plays Mr. Parrish and has similar lines about being 'a man.' Since the message for Van Pelt's appearance is 'A hunter from the darkest wild, makes you feel just like a child,' the intent is that he represents Alan's fears about his father. The game is alive, so it may or may not be doing it on purpose in-universe. The movie ends with Alan and Sarah returning to 1969, which allows him to finally resolve his argument with his dad.

Nothing violent or graphic however once the game ends and everything gets sucked back into the game, Van Pelt's head is shown stuck at the "portal" in the center of the board for a second before being fully sucked in. Not very graphic but could be uncomfy for some.

Alan's friend Sarah witnesses him get sucked into the Jumanji game when they were young and we find out that her life was altered by the event. She appears nervous, skittish, and avoidant and we are verbally made aware that she has done extensive therapy and even been medicated for her condition. She also states she spent her life being told and making herself believe it wasn't real.
