In the new timeline being created by the 5 friend's the new student near the end tries to take his life the same way via planning to ride his bike, but with the present and future changing he walks and does the same as before trying to stand in front of a semi truck of some sort, but last minute moves out of the way.

In the future when the group go to see the new students gram she mentions a day or so prior to his death he tried to hang himself sorta, he wrapped stuff around his neck, but he lives. I think it was a cloth.
