Depends how you perceive gyaru tanning culture. In Japan, they darken their skin to rebel against colourism and Japanese ideals on perfection, but in the west darkening your skin carries the connotation of years of slavery and mockery of black culture, or more recently, trying to appear ethnically ambiguous or of a particular race when you are not. Japan isnt free from racism or inappropriate blackface used to mock Black people by any means, but it doesn’t have the same history of chattel slavery of Black people like western countries do. Gyaru culture is also not foolproof as well, a lot of times cultrally appropriating attributes or clothing associated with Black culture, for example, box braids and protective hairstyles made by and for Black people.

Possibly gyaru subculture. Kagami being the “savant asian” trope and her having an abuseive mother, which is also a trope. The Plus size person only talks about food trope. Marionette is depicted as fat for a joke, after eating too much in one sitting, this also adds to the stigma that overeating is the main cause of fatness, when there are a lot of complex factors, environmental and physiological that determine someone’s size. Japan being more technologically advanced than the west trope slightly.
