Big spoiler. It depends on whether it's the American ending or not. At the end, in the American ending, he comes back up with the dolphin. In the French one, he doesn't, and it's implied that he choses to die in the deep. This is foreshadowed by his talk with Johanna on the phone, when he mentions his wish to stay in the deep.
Enzo's death in the diving competition could also be interpreted as a suicide, since he was told it would kill him and chose to dive anyway.
