Lassie is put through the wringer in this film, taking abuse from man and nature. She is shot, fights with a dog, and battles thieves, all on top of dealing with heavy storms, river rapids, hunger, dehydration, and hurt paws from trekking thousands of miles. Don’t let that scare you off: it’s still one of the best dog movies ever made, maybe even one of the best films ever made.

Not organized dog fighting, just a fight between Lassie and a farm dog. The farm dog was ordered to do so by his owners, thinking Lassie was a rabid stray trying to kill their livestock. The fight is brief, we hear a loud whine, and the farm dog runs back home in fear.
