Legally Blonde is a musical with music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach. The story is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrols at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner. She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. Throughout the show, no one has faith in Elle Woods, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.
This movie contains 6 potentially triggering events.
Two characters walk past a window right as Elle is being assaulted. While not intentionally voyeuristic, their reactions are nevertheless pretty harsh.
"There! Right There!" is an entire musical number where a legal team outs a gay man to a courtroom, thus proving he wasn't having an affair with the (female) defendant. It's comical in tone, and the man does not suffer any repercussions for being outed, but still worth mentioning.
Emmet does offhandedly refer to Elle following Warner to Harvard as stalking, and it could be seen this way by some. But she never follows him to any specific location that she isn't invited to.
Not really, but Elle's Professor "Hits on her" (kisses her, then fires her when she slaps him and doesn't let him keep going) so it's in a similar area
"Bend and Snap!" ends with someone's nose being broken. It's non-graphic and there's no accompanying sound effect, though the character does show up later with tape across their nose.
Not on stage, but a murder trial is a significant plot element. Both the victim's wife and daughter testify. None of the main cast lose any family members during the show.
the two gay men in the number "there, right there!" are portrayed somewhat stereotypically, with both being feminine and flamboyant. the number is about the defense team trying to figure out if nikos is gay or just european. it should be noted that the reason elle first thinks nikos is gay is because he isnt attracted to her, but the song revolves mostly around his looks, citing his outfit as a reason why he must be gay. personally, i don't mind it as there totally are feminine gay men and it's not derogatory, but it felt important enough to mention
