Sort of? The entire setting of the story is children tricked into a mysterious place out of time, and given anything they want to keep them there, but where time is different from the real world and they don't know it.

C5
In chapter 5 we are introduced to a large, spooky lake, described as "a place where dead things belonged." Once a main character falls in, and it's scary, but he doesn't drown. It does turn out to have a major role in the story later, but until then our main characters only go to it a couple of times. They don't like it and stay away otherwise.

Sort of. One child, when discussing their Halloween costumes, gleefully talks about being a hangman, talks about hangings in detail. During the Halloween events, our main protagonist is scared by what seems to be a hanged person, but is revealed to be a scarecrow-type prank.
