It's not exactly a joke (especially not a verbal one), but this entire episode is a visit to a planet where the people have everything done for them by machines, so they just lay idle all the time. They get so fat that they outgrow their houses and their houses explode due to their giant bodies. Tetsuro is horrified and refers to one of the obese people as a monster (due to his size). It's basically a whole episode about how you shouldn't be lazy and get fat.

For part of the episode (and the episode before this one), yes. A woman is in a relationship with a man whom she goes to great lengths to keep safe. She firmly states that she respects this man. He repeatedly talks down to her and slaps her around. Tetsuro asks her how she can respect a man who behaved that way and Maetel tells him that he's too young to understand relationships. That was disturbing, but the woman comes around to viewing him clearly.

A woman tells her fiance she wants to break it off and live a different way and he keeps denying her and trying to physically force her to stay with him. The woman has found a new (nicer) man and wants to live with him, though this man is a lower social status so that'd be illegal. When Tetsuro tries to help the woman Maetel stops him and lets the fiance kidnap the woman back because "those are this planet's laws." This show teaches terrible lessons about healthy relationships vs abusive ones!

Tetsuro accidentally gets drunk twice. The first time, the person who gave him the alcohol knew it was the most potent alcohol in the universe and not appropriate for children, but offered it anyway, only giving the warning after he'd offered. Other people also drink in a bar, not sure anyone is technically abusing alcohol but the one dude seemed out of line to offer very strong alcohol to a child.

In episode 33 of season 2 Tetsuro doesn't like rain because it reminds him of a bad memory from another planet and he feels sad. This kid has been through so much, who knows what's technically PTSD at this point.
