Some characters are shamed for their autism. A non-verbal employee is shamed by his boss until he proves that he is able to succeed in the workplace. While in another video, a couple adopt a non-verbal autistic child, to the dismay of the father. The father accepts his adoptive son when he saves his company. Both videos convey the dangerous message that autistic people need to prove themselves worthy to be accepted, with the second video particularly harmful.

While it is done with the best of intentions, with autistic characters often played by actors who do actually have autism, the messages, such as, “autism isn’t a disability, it’s a different ability,” can be considered harmful.
