The dog doesn't due the first time you see it, and the death happens off screen, you just see the dog house hanging from the t-rex's mouth by its chain leash. This happens near the end of the film, from about 1:50:00-1:51:00.
You don't see the dog, it's offscreen, but it's clearly intended for us to understand that the t-rex ate a family's pet dog. It happens near the end of the movie from about 1:50:00-1:51:00.

I don't think the child realizes the dog is gone, though the kid is present for that scene and the parents would have understood.
They aren't portrayed as scary places in this film, though there's some of that in later films in the franchise. In this one, we mostly see a boat on water at the beginning, shorelines at times, and near the end some folks jump into water to escape a t-rex by the docks.
The carnivorous dinosaurs eat some humans. You'll see them close their mouth around a few people, and later in the film when looking for crew, you'll see a dismembered hand.
I don't think there are any queer characters in most of the films. At least not canon ones. I believe there's a lesbian vet in one of the later Jurassic World films though!
