In episode 1, lions are rounded up by hunters. A white lion is trapped in a net and brought to Rome to fight. In episode 2, horses are poisoned and left fatally ill. In episode 4, the lion is forced to fight and kill Jewish prisoners. Roman soldiers surround it with spears and it has nowhere to run. In episode 9, crocodiles are used in an execution and soldiers stab their tails with spears to move them out of the arena. Throughout the series, horses are forced to run dangerous chariot races. The riders whip them and they often crash.
