The New York club scene of the 80s and 90s was a world like no other. Into this candy-colored, mirror ball playground stepped Michael Alig, a wannabe from nowhere special. Under the watchful eye of veteran club kid James St. James, Alig quickly rose to the top... and there was no place to go but down.

The cat dies presumably of either neglect or being smothered. The body of the cat IS SHOWN. The scene starts when Michael is in bed and Keoki says he's going to take Michael to rehab. He lifts up the blanket to find that Michael has been sleeping with their dead cat. It then cuts to Michael still lying in bed with the cat's body in the lower right corner. I can see how some would miss it, but my eyes went to it immediately.
