The lifelong friendship between Rafe McCawley and Danny Walker is put to the ultimate test when the two ace fighter pilots become entangled in a love triangle with beautiful Naval nurse Evelyn Johnson. But the rivalry between the friends-turned-foes is immediately put on hold when they find themselves at the center of Japan's devastating attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.
This movie contains 22 potentially triggering events.
The dog does NOT die. He is on one of the ships, and he is present during the attacks, but he survives. He runs off when his owner is shot. Later, when the attack is over and the Admiral is surveying the damage (around 2:03) he’s seen swimming through the water and then picked up by another sailor.
Kind of. A man injured at Pearl Harbor has an open wound on the side of his neck. It spurts a lot of blood. A woman plugs his artery with two fingers to save him.
It’s not misrepresenting Japanese people so much as their army but for all of the atrocities Imperial Japan caused the film has an unfair bias against them (if the unnecessary shots of the American Flag didn’t give it away). Commanders are inaccurately shown planning out battles in a swimming pool and the pilots are inaccurately portrayed directly targeting vehicles during the bombing.
One of the main men is presumed dead, but he comes back. One of the nurses dies. One of the main men dies in Japan. Many other non main characters die.
Not described as a seizure but when the man has a neck injury and a nurse is plugging his arteries he is shaking and it looks like a seizure, I believe he is just in shock
There’s an intense scene where a guy has a hole shot through his throat and blood is spurting out. Other scenes of detailed, realistic wounds sustained in the battle but they’re only excessive by the standards of a PG-13 film imo.
Danny and Evelyn think Rafe is dead. They become friends during their grieving and end up falling in love and even having sex. But Rafe comes back and very clearly feels cheated.
After getting into a drunken fist fight in a bar, two men drive away in an open car. When they park one leans over the far side of the car and is sick. It’s no visual and some audio but rarely quiet.
SPOILER!! A woman, that we later find out is pregnant, comes out of a bathroom looking like she doesn’t feel well and has her hand to her mouth. It’s implied that she was sick but nothing is said and no visual or audio.
A man has to get a shot in the butt so you the top of his bare bum, not sexual. A man in a hospital has sunburn on his butt, the side of his bare bum shown from a distance.
