In a post-apocalyptic future where food is scarce, the last descendants of a Black family of farmers who settled in Canada after the American Civil War must protect their homestead from a band of hungry cannibals.
No, the children are all loved dearly by their parents.
At one point the mom grabs her twenty-something’s son shirt as if she’s going to fight him, but she lets go and runs off instead.
Absolutely yes. Headshots occur; an axe is thrown into someone’s face; several people are stabbed, bit, or both; one character has a bloody stump of what’s left of their leg; a character is decapitated; human viscera is found in barrels and eaten by cannibals.
There’s a girl that’s seemingly a young adult whom another young adult (Google says he’s early twenties) has a crush on. He draws her in a swimsuit a few times (with a lot more detail/shading devoted to her butt than anywhere else) and masturbates to the pictures he drew.
This one’s a stretch, probably, but at one point she’s dancing in slow motion, and the camera pans slowly over her butt and shows the guy’s expression change from one of joy to presumably lust when it does.
The parents love their kids dearly, even though the mom is super strict. She does yell sometimes, but usually within the context of something like “your actions could get us killed if you’re not careful.”
At one point the mom does get mad at her eldest son and grips his shirt like she’s going to fight him, but then she lets go.
A character has nails hammered into their hands while unconscious and wakes up to the antagonists finishing the job, shouts of pain and loud hammer clanging sounds included.
The mom drinks moonshine sometimes, but, other than the son commenting on how often they run to get more of it, there’s no indication that the mom is actually abusing it.
Someone is gagged with a cloth, but the cloth is placed there by a protagonist. As such, you’ll likely not think the character is in much danger, if that helps.
Yes. Positively by one character (and another says a prayer at the end) and negatively by another.
The antagonists use religious speak in their excuse for what they do.
Not in a hospital per se, but a character or two is laid on a table and operated on. Another character has stitches put into their very large arm wound.
There is a lot of cursing in this movie, though it’s used in a “natural” way. (ie, I’d probably be cursing a lot like that too if I was in their situation.) Many f-bombs and the like are present throughout.
I don’t think so, but admittedly I briefly looked away from the gore at times. If it happened, my friend who also hates eye injuries (but overall is braver than I am when it comes to thrillers, so she didn’t look away as much) didn’t comment on it.
I think it’s mostly in the latter half of the film, but yes. You hear the sounds of stabbings not shown on screen, and the screams of victims as they are stabbed or eaten.
No, but you might think it’s going to happen. (An antagonist takes off his belt in a suggestive way in front of his captive, but he only uses it to tie something.)
Not exactly…but one second we see a regular horse, the next we see that horse but looking like a zombie (gray/pale, covered in wounds). Seemingly a dream, but it’s unclear if it’s based on a real experience witnessed by the character having the dream.
No, but there’s a brief moment where you might think it’s going to happen. (An antagonist takes off his belt in front of his captive, but then uses the belt as a strap).
Ohhhh yeah. A lot. The family fights to keep their land and themselves safe from other apocalypse survivors, and this fighting includes stabbing, throwing an axe straight into someone’s head, and shooting anywhere and everywhere. The family themselves also sustain bites, stab wounds, and gunshot wounds in the scuffles.
Most of the antagonists are cannibals and you’ll see human remains in barrels or being eaten, pools of blood from corpses hung upside-down, etc. One character gets their hands nailed into the ground and then bitten several times, another character is beheaded, and one character is seen with a bloody stump where their leg used to be.
Oh very much so. Lots of guns are shot throughout the film. Some are shot point blank at people, some from a slightly longer distance in fights, some from a far-away sniper rifle. Some headshots, some into the chest, and some into various appendages.
