Dog gets walked at night. They are lifted up ny their leash and suspended by their walker for about 15 seconds with some yelping, then placed back down alive and continue on their walk. This happens around the 42:10 to 42:50.
Later on, detective and their captain discuss that the dog was killed, but this was never shown.
There is a scene where the detective is opening up black boxes to look for something and after picking out some clothes he finds all the boxes are filled with snakes. The scene only lasts a couple minutes, but you definitely see them.
Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) very briefly and non-graphically alludes to the fact that he might have been sexually abused as a kid when he threatens a suspect. Very easy to miss. The subject he’s threatening is a pedophile, but this isn’t detailed any further than the suspect being labeled as a pedophile. Holly also briefly and non-graphically mentions that her husband was a pedophile.
Not too excessive however, there is a beating scene where a character is hit repeatedly in the face until it becomes a bloody mess. His face is seen throughout as swollen and bloody.
HEAVILY recommended skipping this movie if torture makes you uncomfortable, it’s both shown on-screen and referenced to have happened to multiple characters
Alex (Paul Dano) is beaten up repeatedly by Dover (Hugh Jackman) and his eyes swell badly. During the climax of the movie, Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) is injured and his vision is blurred, and he is later shown with one bloodshot eye.
Keller finds his daughter's whistle while he's trapped underground. At the very end of the movie, Det Loki shows up right before the forensic people couldn't find anything and leave the scene right near the spot where Keller is. Loki is about to leave too but he hears a whistle noise and turns back around....he goes to leave again when he hears the noise multiple times. The movie ends there and it's never shown whether or not he finds Keller. It's left up to the viewer.
Y on earth r people saying no? arguably the biggest part of alex’s character is that he’s intellectually disabled and he’s played by paul dano who (to my knowledge) is able bodied
You people know it's possible to warn of triggers without spoiling important plot details, right? Be descriptive but don't say characters' names. It's rude. ——— This movie is practically safe for emetophobes. After a man is instructed to drink something, he bends over and gags but manages to hold it in. Not long after, a character in the backseat of a vehicle is foaming at the mouth without making any sound. The scene is very dark with flashing blue lights. It didn't bother me at all and I'm extremely sensitive to vomiting.
Kinda, there’s the sound of a character being beaten and repeatedly bunched in the face. There are torture scenes throughout, but the audio isn’t excessive.
i don't know why people are saying no? one of the main characters is a police detective and is portrayed as a hero throughout the movie. he's violent while dealing with suspects (including people who later are revealed to be innocent) but it's not portrayed as a bad thing necessarily
SPOILER: when you hear joy is found the parents of anna meet her and her family in the hospital. loki rushes himself and anna after he’s found her to the emergency room. anna and joy thank loki for saving them in his hospital room.
Towards the end of the movie there is a scene where a character is rushed in a police car to the hospital. There is many tires squealing and honking. No car crash during this scene.
Bob Taylor shoots himself in the head, Keller is shot in the thigh, detective Loki is grazed in the temple with a bullet, and Holly Jones is shot in the head
Later on, detective and their captain discuss that the dog was killed, but this was never shown.
