A family of aliens from a much better world must take refuge in middle America after the destruction of their planet. Their mission: protect the Pupa, a living super computer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them and terraform the Earth.
This tv show contains 74 potentially triggering events.
The main characters sometimes physically fight or assault each other, there is verbal abuse between them sometimes, yelling, name calling etc. but it's all done very lightheartedly
No gaslighting, but severe manipulation. In one episode, Korvo uses fake letters from Shlorp to manipulate Terry into doing responsible tasks and believing his blood will turn into bats if he doesn’t do them. Eventually, this drives him into murderous insanity.
The first episode has a teen girl kidnapped and given brain damage by other teen aliens. Terry and Korvo also pick on the replicants sometimes but it's usually played for laughs and not too severe.
However, the Wall plot in late Season 3 and then Season 4 has a distressing subplot in which a toddler is kidnapped and mistreated.
At a teen house party, every human present is inadvertently drugged through alien puberty and it causes them to be obsessive and violent which leads to gore.
A great handful of various species of birds are killed by vehicle impact during an opening gag. In S1E7, a mouse that a significant side character and the audience forms a deep emotional bond with also sadly perishes..
s2e6 - a pig is genetically modified with sci-fi stuff to produce barbeque ribs, there are a couple scenes that depict fairly gruesome harvesting of the ribs.
At the start of the episode, Terry accidentally throws a dart into Korvo’s throat, causing him to choke and bleed. It’s quickly healed with one of the Solars’ many rays (though Korvo’s voice is now permanently British).
There is an episode where a pig like creature with human levels of sentience and ability to speak is created to be used to harvest ribs and barbecue sauce, it’s pretty brutal
In season 1 during the Wall plot, someone's young son is executed. Also, the Solars (who are effectively a family) frequently die and mourn each other before they are revived somehow.
One of the main plots of the show involve a main character shrinking people down, kidnapping them and putting them in (basically) multiple connected fish tanks.
both of the main married couple mention or are shown having sex with other people, it's unclear whether it's a poly situation or actually cheating but sometimes the characters are upset about it, another character cheats on his finace at his bachelor's party right before they were supposed to get married
Not quite possession but at the start of s5 there is a creature that takes full physical control all of the aliens on that planet to make them attack the Solars
The cops on earth are shown to be pretty corrupt, letting the Solars go free because they supply weapons. The silvercops of space are also depicted as horrifically corrupt
Terry and Korvo are both queer aliens but are only ambiguously a couple in early seasons, which is why they can sleep around without as much issue. However, Korvo cheats with an engaged (to a woman) male creature in "The Rad Awesome Terrific Ray" and this later causes drama with Terry.
There's a few bits where Terry is in drag, but it's usually not played up any more than his other costumes and Shlorpians are established to have a loose sense of gender anyway.
It probably wasn't consciously done, but in S1E1, the first on-screen death is a black DJ. Another man is crushed right before the DJ's demise, but is still alive before the scene change.
There's a neo nazi group in season 1 ep 2 and they're are killed off within the episode. In season 1 episode 6 there's discussion of sexism and stereotypical depictions of women. School bullies call a kid gay
The AI simulation of the alien brother wants to marry his sister, there is an episode where a brother and sister alien are shown making out ( but all the characters acknowledge this as morally bad)
A mouse that serves as a major side character in S1E7 sadly drowns in an extended sequence when its home is flooded. Several human corpses are also seen floating in the same water.
