ReportSynopsis
The gruesome death of a prostitute brings suspicion on one of her clients, James Wayland, a brilliant, self-destructive and epileptic heir to a textile fortune. So detectives Braxton and Kennesaw take Wayland in for questioning, thinking they can break the man. But despite his troubles, Wayland is a master of manipulation, and during the interrogation, he begins to turn the tables on the investigators, forcing them to reveal their own sinister sides.

a character describes having sexually assaulted a girl while she was asleep (which gave her horrible nightmares later). none of this is shown, only described in passing. also a man role-plays something like "punishing his wife for cheating" with a sex worker and it's unclear how consensual that is. this is shown on screen

a character repeatedly makes decisions that endanger his health (e.g. provokes seizures in himself), though a lot of this is discussed rather than shown. typical self-harm like cutting oneself is not shown, however (but see the shaving/cutting entry for a discussion of a form of self-harm (not shown on screen))

there is a discussion of a man cutting off his skin because he thought he was an apple after drinking absinthe. none of this (or any other shaving/cutting) is shown on screen, just discussed.

lying and unreliable narrators are the whole point of the movie, so be cautious if that triggers you. gaslighting as an abusive behavior specifically, however, does not happen

something quite close to the violent mentally ill person trope but for temporal lobe epilepsy, if this kind of reasoning is what triggers you. no actual violent mentally ill people though

there's a brief scene where a male character (then a child) gets told something along the lines "what are you crying for, it's your fault for lying". in no way is this connected to him being a man however.
