In the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, a rescue-chopper pilot makes a dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his estranged daughter.
This movie contains 13 potentially triggering events.
The movie is about massive earthquakes with countless loss of life. This likely includes animals just logically. But, no animals are shown onscreen through the entirety of the film, and as a result no animals are killed onscreen.
When the quake hits & people are fleeing the restaurant (top floor of one of the city's buildings) there's a small explosion in the kitchen amidst the chaos & a chef drops to the floor on fire
Mixed bag on this on but I’m putting no. Minor spoilers: our leading family lost a daughter prior to the movie in a camping accident. The entire family has been struggling to deal with it and we do get the occasional flashback. However, none of this is portrayed in the typical way PTSD is portrayed in movies. Rather, it’s understood that they’re dealing with it and are currently living through a similar trauma. If someone with PTSD disagrees I’ll change my vote, but I don’t suspect this should be triggering for anyone unless the events are very similar (loss of a child/sibling to drowning).
One character is trapped in car, but escapes. One character is trapped in a car slowly being crushed, but escapes. One character is trapped in a small room filling with water, but escapes.
Not a black person, but an Asian person is shown as the first to die.
SPOILERS This is particularly notable as the person is a scientist that works along side another scientist in equal standing. The other scientist is white and was also at the location of the event that caused the other’s death. The white scientist escaped unscathed.
2 of the main characters survive (uninjured) their helicopter crashing into a carpark & into the side of a shopfront, then after finding a small plane they leave the plane on autopilot (to ultimately run out of fuel over the pacific) & parachute down to a football stadium
Many cars crash. There is a prolonged scene at the beginning about a car going off a cliff (the lone driver survives and is rescued). There is another long scene where a character is trapped in a crashed car (who survives and is rescued).
There are multiple mentions of a child having drowned in the past. Countless unnamed characters are wiped out by a massive tsunami and flood. There is an intense scene where a main character drowns but is revived with CPR.
