There are two dogs featured: the first dog is shown to have been killed in an accident. It is shown on-screen and although it doesn't look massively realistic, the dog whimpers and it's quite upsetting. The second dog does not die, although their fate is ambiguous as they are just sort of set free in the countryside at the end.
