Found footage helps a true-crime novelist realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity.
This movie contains 55 potentially triggering events.
The main character experiences strange things, but pretty much everyone believes him. The man's wife is extremely concerned about their children and how the strange things are affecting the kids, and they argue about it. The man lies to his wife about the fact that they are living in a former crime scene
In one of the Snuff films, a young boy is killed. the scene is blurry and in the background as the camera focuses on the main character watching the film.
Ellison (the father) purposefully drops a box on top of a scorpion he sees in the attic. It shows something that looks like smushed scorpion when he lifts up the box. But it happens very quickly and is obviously not real (you're not allowed to hurt animals or insects or spiders/scorpions for any reason in film anymore THANK GOD).
A chihuhua is very, very scared and defensive around 33 minutes in. It is trying to protect its owners from a violent person. It may not disturb others, but it disturbed me!!
The first big scare happens at like the 24 minute mark. When you see a box in a doorway. Most of the movie is really tame jumpscare wise. Mostly loud bangs and characters popping in suddenly.
The scary character in the movie, kind of looks like a cross between a clown and The Undertaker (wrestler) with a mask on his face that's painted but there are only eye holes.
The main character is frequently seen drinking and watching disturbing videos, but he never gets ill from either. There is foaming at the mouth at the end of the movie. Not terribly graphic. You can see it coming and it's easy to look away.
I think it’s worth mentioning that some of the music playing on loop during the films is very overstimulating (to the point where it felt like it was beating into my head-)
Not bad at all, mostly just blood on the walls. The goriest scene is the throat cutting. They cut away from the gore a lot, like a woman gets run over by a lawn mower but it’s all implied and never shown.
