No. But the main character adopts a dog and brings it back the next day. Adopts another dog and brings it back the next day. Adopts a third dog, brings it back, a fourth dog, brings it back. Etc. Not a good example for people, acting like the dogs are objects without feelings. The man also doesn't seem to care about the dog he decides to keep. Even when the dog jumps off of a cruiseship (because the owner throws his stick in the water and the dog jumps after it), the man says "oh sorry" and makes no atempt to safe his dog. Doesn't seem to feel bad about it either because he goes inside to party. I honestly thought the dog died, but the dog shows up at the end of the movie again, after his owner left him for death.
Maybe. The lonely guy throws a stick off of a cruise ship, into the water. His dog jumps off the cruise ship to catch it and even though his owner saw it happening, he doesn't make any attempt to rescue the dog. He just says "oh sorry" and then goes to a party on board.
