Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, "the man who refuses to die" dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor.
Two small children and their mother are killed violently prior to the events of the movie. It's never shown, but it's described twice. The second time is somewhat worse.
The dog is very well-treated, just like in the first movie. There are absolutely a few occasions where it is scared or in peril but the main character clearly cares for his dog. No other characters mistreat it either.
Actually the dog's well-being is clearly prioritized on multiple occasions.
