While the boys are fetching supplies from the boot of an abandoned cop car in an open square, a random German/Belgian Shepherd is barking at an invisible alien & is suddenly (& thankfully quickly) vaporised (or more accurately; turned to dust), but there was time enough for a heart-wrenching yelp

For a short spell we meet Sergei (the local man who's built a sort of Faraday cage around his apartment) & his cat. When an alien gets into the apartment, the cat flees out the front door as Sergei fights it, its fate left unseen.

There is a horse for a short scene - when the main characters are fleeing from the attack on Sergei's faraday cage apartment they run into a small local militia group, the leader of which is on a metal-clad horse. In the brief fight that follows, the horse is struck by a jolt of electricity that causes it to rear & neigh but is otherwise unharmed. After this scene the horse isn't see again so it's safe to assume it remains healthy.

Not drastic - in the early stages of the film when the chaos begins a bartender tosses a few Molotov cocktails to keep the alien at bay before the alien fires something that puts a hole in the wall behind him & he falls to the ground. He is eventually assisted by one of the main characters into the storage room where they hide for some time. Hardly any attention is paid to the poor fellow so only just noticeable is the fact he has a missing arm & next thing you see the other characters wrapping his (assumably) body in a sheet/blanket. Minimal blood & gore. No shot of amputated arm
