A poor little chicken is plucked on screen, i’m guessing it was gassed to death because the neck wasn’t cut. There’s lots of fur too, and leather, a skull on the wall, and a bear pelt with the head still attached as well.
All the whipping of the horses happens off screen, and it seemed like an intentional choice to not depict the horses being put down at all. Compared to older western style movies the horses are treated decently, though there were some signs of discomfort like mouth opening. Some had bits with leverage but no long shanks.
