A boy, known only as ‘The Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, 'The Carpenter', revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine.
A baby in the beginning of the film is ripped from their mother’s arms and tossed into a fire on screen. Yeshua (Jesus) also uses his powers to kill a boy.
Joseph is cruel to Jesus and leaves him in a shack outside instead of letting him into the house. Mary is largely emotionally unavailable and tends to stand by as Jesus is abused by Joseph.
Satan freely switches between a jerky, shambling possessed man and a teenage girl depending on who is observing him, which can feel a little disorienting to reality of the film. Yeshua (Jesus) also has a vision where he sees into the pits of Hell, as well as trance-like dreams of his future sacrifice.
Yeshua (Jesus) is stalked by individuals in town after healing one of the sick. This includes one of them committing a home invasion to try to receive his healing touch again.
