Avoxes are people who had their tongue cut out so they can’t speak and are typically forced to be capitol servants, Pollux the Avox is unable to speak but signs, his actor is not deaf or non-speaking himself.

**SPOILER WARNING**: I don't know that I'd call it self-harm exactly, more of a lack of self-preservation, but ****SPOILER ALERT**** Peeta gets brainwashed and tries to kill katniss, so he gets restrained. But he is so determined to get free so that he can go kill her that he really violently throws his body around and, I think, he at least tries to bang his head on something a few times, if not it's a very violent, aggressive motion and looks like that's what he's doing. I know that imagery could be especially triggering for certain types of self-harm, intrusive thoughts, or SIs, even if storywise it doesn't appear to be an action with the intent to self-harm

One of the rebels had his tongue cut out because he rebelled and is unable to speak, using sign language (ASL specifically), one of the other rogues says “don’t bother talking to him, he doesn’t say much” even though the others could easily interpret for him as they are shown to also know sign or teach Katniss basic signs. It feels really gross as someone who is nonspeaking and signs myself. Also if you wanna know what he signed, it’s not a direct 1 to 1 for English but basically he signed “katniss is beautiful, don’t you think?” and the other guy signed “yes”. Later he signs “looks like home” and “never say goodbye”.

Katniss is also whitewashed and Peeta is no longer an amputee. Beetle is also in a a wheelchair due to injury and is played by an able bodied actor.
