The World According to Garp

Movie • 1982 • Drama

Report
Based on the John Irving novel, this film chronicles the life of T S Garp, and his mother, Jenny. Whilst Garp sees himself as a "serious" writer, Jenny writes a feminist manifesto at an opportune time, and finds herself as a magnet for all manner of distressed women.

Garp's mother describes sexually assaulting a dying man in a hospital bed. There is a story told of an 11 year old girl getting raped as well, but it isn't a graphic description.

A dog bites Garp’s ear and it’s bloody. Later he bites the dog back and you hear the dog crying. But the dog is ok.

Garp’s mom rapes a dying soldier to get pregnant. It’s only described and not shown.
