It is heavily implied that the sniper owns a falcon kept in a cage near her home in an abandoned area. Near the end of the film she commits suicide, as the falcon is kept in a cage and tethered there is little chance it will be retrieved by anyone.

The sniper walks backwards off of a cliff after the central character takes her gun. The central character had already discarded the gun and clearly had no intent to harm her or take any further action against her. This was a deliberate action on her behalf.
