It is heavily implied that Romy was sexually abused as a child raised in a cult. There are multiple brief flashback scenes that include a group of dancing children (one shirtless) with an adult in the group’s center.

Samuel is emotionally and sexually abusive towards Romy. He sexually assaults her multiple times and engages in sex acts multiple times without true consent where he has coerced her into saying ‘yes’ when she is obviously very uncomfortable and has been saying no multiple times to what he is asking and then forcing her to do. He repeatedly manipulates and gaslights her, saying things like ‘why are you doing this to me?’ when she starts reacting negatively to him manipulating and threatening her, as if he is the victim. He threatens to blackmail her and ruin her life multiple times, saying things like he ‘can make one phone call and ruin everything’.

Romy cheats on her husband for almost the entire duration of the movie, ending the cheating near the end of the movie. Romy tells her husband later on that she cheated on him and lots of intense yelling and swearing ensues.
Samuel cheats on his girlfriend, whom he started dating part way through the movie, in the latter half of the movie. His girlfriend later reveals to us, the audience, that she knew he cheated, and confronts Romy about this, a calm but firm conversation is had. It seems like it’s implied that Samuel’s girlfriend stays with him despite him cheating.

It is implied Romy is being watched by Samuel when she goes to her office in the evening to find a note telling her to meet him somewhere. After she picks up the note and we the audience have time to read it, it cuts to a shot of Samuel outside on a city street looking up, presumably up at her office in the tower.

Eh, kink is linked into stereotypical ideas regarding mental health capacity and that //SPOILER// that it is something people can just decide to do. Husband is not interested in doing it as it makes him uncomfortable, but the end of the film he is doing it. Kink isn’t something that you can just suddenly be into out of threat of ur partner leaving

Arguable, I’m polyamorous and I found it disappointing. Romy is blackmailed by colleague into behaving as a “respectable woman” (aka not seeing Samuel anymore), Samuel is sent away to Tokyo with no goodbye and Romy&her husband begin doing kink (when he was uninterested in doing it, and could be doing is as he’s too scared to lose her).

There is a brief scene where Romy comes to visit her Husband at his work, a theatre, and there is a man and a woman on stage rehearsing with a prop handgun. At one point the man holds the gun up to the woman’s forehead. I did not catch if it was implied he fake shot her while acting but there was no gunfire sound effects and I don’t remember seeing her collapse. The main focus of the scene was on Romy coming to see her husband
