Following the murder of her father by a hired hand, a 14-year-old farm girl sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. Marshal she can find—a man with 'true grit'—Reuben J. 'Rooster' Cogburn.

The main character falls in a hole and there are some rattlers. She gets bitten. You'll know the scene when you come to it, so you can skip it if you need to (there are long-term effects of that snakebite, however.)
Does not occur, but it is referenced. One time a man tells a girl he considered kissing her in her sleep, another time he spanks her (although his motivation is not sexual).
